It's a wonderful life

Let's start with Bricco and Amalia, everyone knows them. I have pictures going back to when we all walked more upright and briskly, especially we humans.

The unexpected now seems normal. A few minutes yesterday at Francesca's work site, learning what modern means here in Rome,  a perfect chilled coffee, a nice walk home and a comfortable phone chat leads into another typical evening in Rome. Friends and food. That means talk, laughter and joy. The cast was Graziano, Francesca, Philipp, Nigest, her friend Yealem, Helena, Alessandro and Alessandra...and me. The restaurant? Mama. Near the Vatican, what they claimed was an easy walk, we rode and as the oldest I am not a bit ashamed to say that was a really a good choice.

Philipp and Nigest had discovered Mama's on an earlier walk and had been there a couple of times. A truly great evening. Waiter and owner added a bit of humor, not to mention great service. Food excellent, land and sea. Prices reasonable too.
Restaurants were our favorite "night out" experience, so to have such a great time without anyone being aware that today would have been our 20th anniversary and Grace's birthday was spectacular.

The kitchen, whether at home or at a restaurant, is a large part of traditional Italian hospitality; it's where we spend the most time sharing with each other. I have really been lucky this trip. Meeting new friends and eating my way from Kilimanjaro to Mama's without leaving Rome. There is still time left for more...I hope!

Mangare a tutti!
