Hats off

Grace and I adjusted to the routine of the "Campo" quickly and easily. The daily events, even the sequence of events became ingrained. She was the first to notice when Fabrizzio showed up alone. I think she asked Sabrina why, and that's when Grace started selling hats and I became an assistant. Marina was at the hospital with her husband, a situation that lingered a long time.

As with Mauro and Lina the friendship that was created then has continued. Both Fabrizzio and I seem to be "big kids", He's bigger, I'm older. Marina...eguale! Poor Silvia, you know that Nickolas is going to be just like Dad...and Nonna!

Yesterday was a typical day. After the arrival, a coffee, a break, etc and Fabri starts to set up. After the set up is completed and a couple of hours of selling, a break...or two, a coffee, some water, perhaps a Coke we begin a slow knock down process. A water, a break, perhaps another coke and we are progressing nicely. Remember as you knock down  I you sell too! Calcio! Who are these guys? Work at a standstill, I sit. While the amici dissect the coming season, I sit and sip!

The skies OPEN! Boy does it rain! Back to work, in overdrive. Some of these hats are made in China of paper and are not WATERPROOF!

Fabri now has two of us working, Mario and me. Just like
Toscanini, he's directing with full flowing movement and, of course he's not remembering a single word of English.Shirts are off, it is pouring rain, canvas flapping, ombrelli tipping and all around cameras are clicking. Check out you-tube, Every touristi in the "Campo" is clicking and laughing. Naturally, they are dry!

Finally it's done! The rain stops! Go figure.

And now it's 8:05, I am waiting for Fabri to arrive so we can start over again. Business as usual. Perhaps Marina will come today...to add a "professional" touch!  Ciao!!!!
