Hello Noah...any room in the ark?

Our first apartment in Rome was on via dei Chiavari. We rented it for an entire month and thought we were in heaven. Then Air France "lost " our luggage. The truth? Air France was on strike in Paris and nothing was moving. No clothes for how long? Well we did have a couple of changes of clothing in our carry-on luggage and Amex covered the lose after two weeks. So we went shopping. This particular trip was the one Grace was using a cane, having fallen and broken a bone. 

So let's set the stage. We are in the store, I am on the phone with Amex...a glitch, it's dark and time to close, they want us gone! Glitch fixed and it rains, no it pours. Grace unhappy!!! No taxi! So we are walking in the rain...no music please. Into the first open ristorante. It happens to be da Pallaro and we will never know if we would have chosen it otherwise. It was heaven sent. A wonderful evening, a nice meal and it was DRY! The rain stopped and we easily walked home.

On other occasions, on other trips it has rained and we have been "stranded". In museums, at restaurants, at bars and certainly in the "Campo". Each time we sat, we watched, we laughed and we waited. Every time the rain stopped.

On this trip rain has been  a constant companion, yesterday being easily the "biggest bang"! Thunder, lightning and torrential downpours, we had it all...but the hats were dry this time. Fabrizio and I were faster than the day before and beat the "parting of the seas"!

The "crew" of Bar 36 had a real battle with this one. Getting ahead of it was pretty much impossible. As soon as they fixed one leak, two more appeared. 12cm gushers were cascading off the canvas, joints were failing, but the "SS Minnow" was safe, "Gilligan" kept us afloat and fairly dry. We sat, we watched, we laughed and we waited...it passes, just like always.

What do I think? If you laugh, you win; if you whine, you don't!!!!
