A day with Cami!

I come from Boston. A place where they actually created something worse than going to the Dentist...the DMV (Department of motor vehicles). How could I have forgotten? In Florida you get your plates at the tax assessors office, kind of gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling to start with, right? And its a county function. Yep, they've added an extra strata of officialdom!

I figured an hour or so...not! Both cares needed their tags renewed, my license needed renewal as well and all needed an address change. Still, I had been here a few months ago
to address a plate problem, so my expectations were pretty high.

I entered, explained what I looking for and got my number. I sat and read for a bit until the voice machine paged me. Everything is smooth. Cami, my new friend is blowing through this like lunch was coming. In fact it was. My license, a piece of cake;  change of address, smooth; I even got a new photo...only two takes! The Mazda...done!

Then came the 'bird. Everything grinds to a halt. Seems that my prior visit didn't complete the circle. Grace's name still appears on the title, which I don't have. The lien holder does and even there we have a difference. The original lien holder sold it to another company. Cami is trying everything to process this mess, but keeps hitting the wall. She gets more help. An email is sent to Talahassee and an immediate response wants insurance info. Done. Really was not expecting this. But my recent run of luck continues.

Talahassee not so quick on the response this time. Now it's at two hours and counting. An attempt to bypass the snarl through clearing Grace's driving record when the system discovers her demise. The help goes for more help. I just sit back and snicker. If Grace is looking on from somewhere I would guess she would be furious...cool, calm and collected? Not quite! At least they aren't charging me the $6.00 to check her record. Annette the new help gives it one last shot...bingo! Looks like Talahassee corrected things from their end and went to lunch. Oh well, two and a half hours and its done. I don't have to come back.

Humor is always a prerequisite on one of these occasions. Everyone kept calm, or pretended to and finally got it done.
Results count and their good humor and help was noted and appreciated.

But, how the Hell did I ever forget?????????
