Another day, another game. Today it's the Twins and Sox. I got there early for the pregame batting practice, but they didn't have any...probably had it at home, down the street maybe two miles. So here are a few shots of a typical winter day here in the Fort.
This is my on line "Collector's Cabinet". It is non-profit and haphazard at best. I leave it to you to sort through and make sense of.The views are mine. The collection reflects some of my interests. But the material must be credited to the vast internet. Otherwise, I never would have been able to amass such a treasure trove. The purpose of this exercise is entertainment, naturally mine, but even more so yours. So, please let me know if anything strikes a chord with you.

That's why they call it "Spring Training."
The only happy players yesterday were the one that did not play. They had a perfect day...everyone else, not so much.
When this is the high point of the game, you know it was a "bad day in Eagle Rock!"
THE BLUE BRIDGE!

The good gardener knows
As a gardener I am aware that under each rock that I turn something nasty will scurry away. But, as a voter, I know that all those nasty creatures are searching for the"home rock" in Washington. Where no one dares turn it over!
It takes a special sort of person to perceive themselves as superior to each and every person that helped elect them. More able to "properly" conduct someone else's life than that person himself. As a starter, perhaps arrogant, certainly self-centered and most likely affluent...after all over fifty percent of those we elect are millionaires.
Just how does our one vote matter? After all, we can can only choose from what is on the plate and they are either self selected or chosen by the "king makers" in charge. Do any of the people on our platter in the last several elections remind you in any way at all of a truly decent choice as a leader? They all seem to be cast from the same mold of panderers, pimps and moral cowards. Choosing the way of least resistance instead of attempting to correct any obvious failures. CYA is their central mantra, using "party" as subterfuge. Why is compromise tabu? It has always worked before and has a funny way of weeding out the truly absurd aspects of proposed bills.
When I was younger my opinion was different. I thought that we elected leaders, not despots, petty tyrants, cheats, liars and buffoons. I was young. McCarthy and Nixon came from that era. I was also delusional!
If Cerberus was sitting at the doors of Congress would he be howling at the moon? Or, shaking all of his heads in disgust?
The pols may think of it as a Country Club, but it actually smells much more like an unwashed kennel club!
Perhaps our elected elite should pay more attention to an old Groucho Marx quote; "I wouldn't belong to a club that would have me!"
...and slither or scurry on down the road!

Game day
The first game. Sox way ahead when I left in the seventh inning and all the scrubinis were in ...the whodats vs the little sisters of the poor. Sox started a major league team, the Orioles not so much. Someone mentioned the 27 degree weather in Boston, most of us just laughed.
What this is all about, kids, fans and players.
Bet Showalter wishes this guy would walk through his door.
Good seats...just none available, typical Sox situation.
Someone trying for the Bullpen gig!
Irony, his Grandson played rightfield for the O's today.
The good ol' days...do it by hand.
Wally's in the house' he "helped" the Hooter's Girls throw out the first pitch. And, he gets paid for this!
Contact!
On the ground, Dustin.
This park is so pretty. Fenway South with a Green Monster sporting a better seating arrangement and no big porch in center. And the only use other than Spring Training is extended spring training for the rookies. Some kind of a deal they had to make with the county because the Twins were here first.
Here are today's shots...

Another day, another park
This morning I picked up my tickets at Fenway South aka Jet Blue Stadium. The Twins facility (Hammond park) was really nice, but this was a few notches higher. All of the practice fields named for former players and all immediately accessable to the main park. The pomp and circumstance almost baseball holy. There were no more available tickets so I'll work with the six games I have and perhaps take a flier with the scalpers if I feel the need. This coming season is going to have a different slant for me because I am able to witness the start and follow the progression. My first game is tomorrow and I am actually glad to be here...just wasn't that certain before.
