The last day in Rome, what a wonderful place to have lunch. At a time when only a tourist would be eating.
so we were alone in one of the most beautiful locations in Rome. I'm sure the food, beverage, service were wonderful, what else would they be? But, I don't remember anything but these views. And, that it was a splurge. Well worth it. The Forum is a well known spot, however the preferred time slot would be as the sun goes down. That has to go on the "things undone" list. Next time. The view is "more is better" frame of reference. The Forum spreads out in front of you while the Markets of Trajan are directly beneath. To the left the Colosseum and the Arco di Constantino. The memorial to King Vittorio Emanuelle is to the right, with churches, domes, obelisks and monuments rising all around.
If you start at Santa Maria Maggiore, walk down via Cavour with a stop at S. Pietro in Vincoli to see Moses this makes the perfect ending of your day. Be sure to take a picture or two, absolutely spectacular.
