A day with Cami!

I come from Boston. A place where they actually created something worse than going to the Dentist...the DMV (Department of motor vehicles). How could I have forgotten? In Florida you get your plates at the tax assessors office, kind of gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling to start with, right? And its a county function. Yep, they've added an extra strata of officialdom!

I figured an hour or so...not! Both cares needed their tags renewed, my license needed renewal as well and all needed an address change. Still, I had been here a few months ago
to address a plate problem, so my expectations were pretty high.

I entered, explained what I looking for and got my number. I sat and read for a bit until the voice machine paged me. Everything is smooth. Cami, my new friend is blowing through this like lunch was coming. In fact it was. My license, a piece of cake;  change of address, smooth; I even got a new photo...only two takes! The Mazda...done!

Then came the 'bird. Everything grinds to a halt. Seems that my prior visit didn't complete the circle. Grace's name still appears on the title, which I don't have. The lien holder does and even there we have a difference. The original lien holder sold it to another company. Cami is trying everything to process this mess, but keeps hitting the wall. She gets more help. An email is sent to Talahassee and an immediate response wants insurance info. Done. Really was not expecting this. But my recent run of luck continues.

Talahassee not so quick on the response this time. Now it's at two hours and counting. An attempt to bypass the snarl through clearing Grace's driving record when the system discovers her demise. The help goes for more help. I just sit back and snicker. If Grace is looking on from somewhere I would guess she would be furious...cool, calm and collected? Not quite! At least they aren't charging me the $6.00 to check her record. Annette the new help gives it one last shot...bingo! Looks like Talahassee corrected things from their end and went to lunch. Oh well, two and a half hours and its done. I don't have to come back.

Humor is always a prerequisite on one of these occasions. Everyone kept calm, or pretended to and finally got it done.
Results count and their good humor and help was noted and appreciated.

But, how the Hell did I ever forget?????????

sTrumpets

I really enjoy music and for quite some time i have enjoyed the sight of pretty women.

So here's my question, why are these teen-aged trollops touting their talents on TV? Talents that I will be among the last to recognize.

Grabbing your crotch may affect your octave level, but it won't improve it. Frankly tattoos, piercings, etc nauseate me. They are a visual thing and contribute nothing to the alleged music or even more questionable talent.

What you are viewing is nothing more that a preliminary tryout for the "pole dance olympics". Can they sing? Can they dance? Who the Hell knows (cares)! Do they have talent? Sure if you want a career as a streetwalker!

Are Harley and Hasbro related?

Barbie was created in 1959. If she were real she would be 54 and her first proud owners around 65.

It appears that those proud owners live here in Florida. Driving their "big wheels", two-wheelers and tricycles with their two foot long grey "pony tails" hanging out of their helmets or for the "real" cowboys, hanging loose and free.Still out their chasing their own impossible dreams.

Who managed to convince them that two and three feet of grey, unmanageable hair was cool, sexy or romantic? I certainly tell you that a size 24 "touche" isn't! These aren't "Knights of the road", as a matter of fact a lot of them can't drive at night...it's an age thing!

God help them if they fall...because they can't get up!

Roots...do they rotate?

In September of 1964 I met the girl that would become my wife. For the first time in my life I was discussing the future with someone important, someone who mattered. Common ground and ideas that we both agreed on were the goals when we talked. Damn,  we were young! Aspirations, hopes dreams, all checked off on the list. My own list was about one line long, I wanted a family and roots. You know, the "American Dream", cat in the window, etc. I had never had roots. Too many houses, too little time in each. I felt somewhat adrift.

Now, I have the cat. I also have daughters and grandchildren, but still no roots. With the first part of my new plan in place, roots do not appear to be prominent in my future. More like a distant and hazy mirage. There seem to be more things to put on  a "bucket list" than roots could accommodate. They are places. People will be added as I go. Recollection tells me that I have been moving, traveling, visiting places almost since birth. In that span, including military, I have lived in 6 states, been on a cruise or two, spent time in 8 different countries and about two dozen of our states. Old song seems to say it well, Travelin' man.

Obviously my plan doesn't seem to allow for stopping any time soon. There is no big map on the wall with different colored pins or magic marker. Hell I don't even really know where I'll go first, but my mind is overflowing with possibilities...West, Southwest, West Coast, National Parks, Canyons, Waterfalls, Mountains. Just nothing flat! Natural beauty or man-made? Museums, you bet!

Using recollection again, obviously my first well rooted plan did not work. Perhaps a new un-routed one will. Maybe it's my destiny, we'll wait and see!

Old photos, old friends
