It was late in the war and the Army wanted a new medium bomber. Douglas won the proposal and developed something a bit different. By the time they got it in the air the requirements had changed. Jet engines now required. Douglas made the switch and the Mixmaster became the Jetmaster. Didn't matter, neither went into production. Boeing had better plans.
